Review: Antipodes Hallelujah Lime & Patchouli Cleanser

Antipodes Hallelujah Lime & Patchouli Cleanser

In my life a new cleanser is the highlight to an otherwise dull day. Regularly buying cleansers is an addiction that I manage to curb but then I started my blog, say no more. I was very excited to order Antipodes Hallelujah Lime & Patchouli Cleanser. It contains 100% natural ingredients of avocado oil, Macadamia nut, lime and kawakawa leaf. I have spoken many times about my love for Rejoice Day Cream and Resurrect Toner. I think the brand is amazing for ingredients, performance and quality. I definitely think it is worth the extra pennies.

The cleanser’s scent is strong and exotic from patchouli. It possibly might not be to everyone’s taste. It is thick and creamy and a pleasure to massage into your face. Instructions are that you remove with warm water using a facecloth. It promises to revitalise the skin surface, purify, uplift and suitable for most skin conditions. The first time I used this cleanser my cheeks turned bright red and felt sore, like spending a day at the beach when it’s blustery and cold. I put it to one side, left it for a week and then decided to give it another try. Second time around I did not encounter any problems, strange but not unusual for me. I've continue to use this on and off during the month. My theory is I can’t use this at, dare I say it, "that time of the month". I have talked openly on my blog about my hormonal issues and it is certainly having an effect on my skin. I am not sure if it’s the lime, patchouli or me being weird but I just can not get on with it. One minute I love it and at other times I dislike it.

It really has frustrated me. I do love how the cleanser feels and smells but I won’t be buying it again. I will let you make up your own mind about this cleanser just be wary if you are sensitive like me. I think Antipodes Grapeseed Butter Cleanser would be a better purchase for my skin type.

  1. I completely agree with you on this. I also find the smell far to strong. I can not use it in the morning at all. I also find it tingles my skin quite a bit. I do love how soft it makes my skin and the texture of it but the smell just puts me off which is annoying as to begin with I liked the smell. Thanks again for letting me try it. xx

    1. That is a shame that you haven't been getting on with it. I know what you mean about the fragrance, it can be overpowering when you are not in the mood for it.

  2. The scent was something I needed to get used too, but I absolutely love the results this gives.
Creamy texture and a smooth face once rinsed off. Love it to bit but I'd probably suggest the grapeseed butter to begin with. This is more creamy and easy in usage, rinses off with water too, whilst the butter cleanser really requires a cloth to remove.
Love them both, should have a review up soon :)

  3. Nice post Sarah. Shame you didn't get on with it all of the time though. Best stay clear if it's not agreeing with you all of the time I guess.
I love how you put 'time of the month' in small case like you're whispering lol

    1. You are right and I have stopped using it, my skin is fussy enough without casing it more stress :)
