Crazy Rumors Lip Balm

Crazy Rumors Lip Balm Vegan

Petroleum is one ingredient that I truly hate with a passion. I spent most of my childhood smothered in the stuff so we do not see eye to eye. I have previously written about why I hate it (click here) but let me recap.
  1. Petroleum can also be referred to as mineral oil, liquidum paraffinum, paraffin oil, paraffin wax and petrolatum
  2. Initially leaves your skin feeling silky smooth but your skin does not absorb petroleum so the results are superficial.
  3. Does not heal damaged skin, it creates a barrier
  4. It is a cheaper filler ingredient
  5. I don’t want to ingest this ingredient in lip balms
I would love to persuade everyone to throw out Vaseline by tempting you with natural balms. It may surprise you that there are natural brands available on the high street, such as Figs & Rouge, Balm Balm and Dr Organic. My list of favourite balms is growing and includes Badger Balm, Sweet Cecily’s, Savonnaire London, Gwdihw and Crazy Rumors. All these lip balms contain similar ingredients so their performance is practically identical it just boils down to what flavour takes your fancy. The one brand that stands out to me has to be Crazy Rumors.

Crazy Rumors is a USA brand (hence the spelling!). Their lip balms are 100% natural, organic, cruelty free and Vegan. These lips balms contain moisturising ingredients like shea butter and jojoba oil. The flavours are naturally derived and taste amazing. I currently own Amaretto and Red Velvet but the flavour choices are endless – Candy Canes, Desserts, Bubble Gums, Sodas, Ice Creams, Tea, Coffee and more. I am not sure how many UK websites sell Crazy Rumors but I have purchased mine from cutecosmetics.co.uk (which is an all round awesome website). On this site these lip balms retail for £3.25.

What do you think Sugarpuffettes, have I tempted you to treat your lips with a natural balm? Do you already have a favourite natural lip balm or use Crazy Rumors?

  1. Like the sound of the flavours! My little one has chapped lips and I have to bribe him to use lip balm. These might help although he would probably just lick it off ;)

    1. The temptation to lick off is a problem :) I imaging the soda and ice cream flavours may be very appealing to a little person.

  2. Vaseline completely freaks me out - even before I took much notice of the main ingredient. It's greasy and as you said only provides a mask of moisture rather than genuinely moisturising.

    1. I also don't think it has a very nice feeling on the skin, so can understand your reaction

  3. These sound lovely! I love lip balms that have so many different flavours. I never really used Vaseline before I switched to natural products, I just didn't like it.

  4. I've only tried the Cola flavour from Crazy Rumous and I wasn't crazy about it. The actual balm is lovely, but it just smells kind of odd to me and I don't end up using it much at all. Will have to try one of these flavours next time!

    1. That's a shame, I'd say the Amaretto was the better of the two :)

  5. Thanks for adding the UK website for these, I've always thought they were only available in the US! Now the hard part is deciding which one to get, they all sound so yummy! x

    1. Good luck for deciding on a flavour, I struggle every time I look at that website :)

  6. I tried the French Vanilla one of these and absolutely hated it - if anything, it's the only more natural lip balm that has made my lips worse! Luckily Lanolin doesn't affect me, so I can use Burt's Bees balms! x

    1. Well that's a first I have never heard a single bad thing sad about these lip balms, each to their own I guess we can't all like the same thing. I can't stand Lanolin its a disgusting ingredient.

    2. I've got allergies to weird things like toothpaste, so my lips definitely react to things that most people, including those with allergies wouldn't! I don't agree with Lanolin use and I really rate your post on it, but if it's between ethics and not having lips that bleed, it's a decision I had to make! x

    3. I don't think you are the only one out there with weird allergies :) For me lanolin isn't necessarily about ethics its also the potential contamination & the feeling on skin, it coats in same way as petroleum. You are entitled to use what you like, that works for you.

  7. Sounds lovely! I'm currently using Dr Organic lip balm. Really like it although the fragrance is a but intense.

  8. I love Hurraw! balms, which are also vegan. I stopped using petroleum along time ago. I did buy a Burt's Bees balm when I was desperate but I feel like those with lanolin etc. don't moisturize my lips at all! I like the vegan ones much better. I've heard great things about Crazy Rumors so I might have to try them.

    1. I want to try Hurraw the same website sells them. Lanolin coats the skin in the same way as mineral oils so that is possibly why you feel they don't moisturise :)

  9. I love Crazy Rumors, I have a couple but there are so many other flavours I want to try! The place I used to get them is no longer around so thanks for pointing us to a new supplier! :)

  11. I completely agree with everything you said about Petroleum. I have heard of Crazy Rumors and have been curious to try it. Right now I'm happy with my newest purchase of the EOS lip balms- they're also natural/organic, which I love. :)

  12. Mmm, I might just have to get the Amaretto one - how strong is the scent?

Also a fan of Hurraw! - love their tingly mint one - and the tinted Black Cherry is excellent for a little colour.

    1. That's always a tough question, I think the scent is strong but remember when it comes to our noses we are all very different, you may not think the same as me
