"Pure, unrestrained cleansing pleasure for normal to dry skin, and perfect for sensitive skin. Natural sugar extracts gently combine with water to turn the clear balm into a creamy milk that rinses away clean, leaving skin calm and hydrated. Nourishing Baobab oil soothes and hydrates. This completely natural, soap-free cleansing balm is beautifully fragranced with hypoallergenic organic Vanilla and can be used with a hot cloth for added pampering." Evolve Organic Beauty
I am not sure exactly when it happened but Evolve has undergone a transformation. The pink and purple packaging has been replaced with fresh labelling and apothecary style brown bottles. I like the new look, it’s stylish and on trend with competitors. I have tried the original Evolve Gentle Cleansing Melt but I never blogged about it because it did not make a lasting impression. It was a balm in a tub so I was intrigued to see it is now bottled and that tempted me to buy it again. I assume there must have been a change in the ingredients but I don't have the old ones to hand to say how it differs however it remains natural, organic and free from SLS, parabens, petrochemicals etc.
The new formula is a thick syrup like texture which I find is easiest used on slightly damp skin otherwise it can be a little difficult to massage across your face. As the name suggests this cleanser “melts” with water, it becomes a milky solution which can simply be washed away. You can do this over the sink or in the shower but I like to use a warm damp cloth. The scent is a light vanilla with a hint of citrus and if my memory is correct I find it an improvement on the original fragrance which for me was too sweet. Weirdly, the scent reminds me of a childhood toy. Yes, totally random but first time I used the cleansing melt I couldn't place the familiarity and then I remembered this baby doll I carried around with this intriguing sweet fragrance.
I honestly like how this cleanser leaves my skin feeling soft and not stripped of moisture. For me, the added bonus is no linalool so I am not having any issues with irritation to my dermatitis. I think Evolve Gentle Cleansing Melt is a keeper and I can definitely see myself repurchasing.
Have you tried any products from Evolve? Which one would you recommend?
