My hands are the first part of my body that shows the signs of colder weather closely followed by my legs. We’re talking dry, scaly and although it hasn’t happened in a few years my hands have been known to break out in eczema. Hand creams become a staple and I usually have them stashed everywhere, similar to other people’s obsession with lip balms.
This is the lightest of the products featured in this article but it still offers hydration. It’s the one to reach for when at work as it sinks in quickly and I can continue typing without stickiness. It has an uplifting scent of lemon and lemongrass which makes a change from other scents. The active ingredients are coconut and cocoa butters, avocado, sea buckthorn, aloe vera and calendula.

As the name suggests this is a heavier cream ideal for nourishing tired and dry skin. It’s a whipped shea butter so light and smooth to the touch. Easy to apply in a thin layer should you wish but does sit on the skin for longer. For me, this one is a treatment which I’d use in front of the TV or overnight. The fragrance is lavender and geranium.

Gauntlet is a balm designed to use sparingly and ideal for extreme weather conditions. Its active ingredients are Shea Butter and Avocado Oil, the Rosemary and Calendula provide healing properties. Ideal for those who love the outdoors as it will protect against the winter chill. If you prefer cosy nights at home, I’d use it as a bedtime treat and let it work its magic overnight.

Another rich and nourishing balm treatment which is shea butter based. Ideal for any skin type but I think those with very dry hands will enjoy it most. This melts on warm skin so easily massaged and becomes an enjoyable experience especially is you like a little at home spa treatment. The lemongrass scent is lighter than Odylique and the new 30g size is super cute and perfect for travel.

Do you have a favourite hand cream for winter?
