Cookies and Scream Camden, London
I have one rule for my Birthday, if it falls on a work day I book the day off. There is no way I am sitting in an office, I want to be out having fun. Birthdays should also include ice cream and cake (and sometimes jelly).

This year my Birthday wish was to have a day out that included a restaurant/cafe stop where I could have the freedom to eat what my heart desired. The first place that sprang to mind was Cookies & Scream in Camden London. I knew this place would be awesome because my lovely friend Nicola (@N1C79_EATS) has mentioned it may times.

Cookies & Scream is located within the Dingwalls gallery area of the Camden Lock market. Every product is dairy, egg, wheat and gluten free and the baked goods are made fresh on site. I was overwhelmed by choice and it took me ages to decide but in the end I went for a Salted Caramel Milkshake and Peanut Butter Chico. Oh boy, oh boy that milkshake was more like an ice cream sundae. I was slurping it down for quite some time but the warm weather was helping the ice cream to melt quickly. The cookie was delicious, soft and moist (can be warmed before serving but I declined). I never would have guessed it was gluten free, even my boyfriend enjoyed a couple of mouthful and gave positive feedback. Lets be honest, I was on a unrefined sugar high for the rest of the day. My eyes were bigger than my belly, I left feeling over indulged and slightly queasy (but in a good way). Cookie & Scream also serve Tea Pigs, Espresso, Americano, Soya Latte and Macchiatos if you're not a milkshake lover.

I had never been to Camden before and the whole experience was awesome. I did not realise it was a rabbit run of market stalls. I can understand why it is a tourist hot spot. You need to be prepared for the crowds, even on a Friday it was pretty busy. Obviously, anyone with allergies/intolerances needs to tread carefully and ask questions. Cookies & Scream display an allergy information notice at their bar. I would suggest that anyone with a soya or nut allergy will probably not find it suitable.

I haven't written a Free From Food post in a little while so I thought I would share new discoveries with you today. The Allergy Free Cookbook was a gift for my Sister's birthday. I found it in Marks & Spencer. It looked very good as each recipe gave you options for adapting to different allergies. I thought I would give this Zest Vegan Basil Pesto a try. I've never eaten pesto because it is not usually dairy free.  Pictured below are a few other treats I picked up a my local health food store - tofu, Vegusto slices, raw chocolate mousse, nakd bar, vegan coconut bar, vegan cocktail sausages. My Tesco is now selling Trek flapjacks, the coconut one is delicious.

My friend recently visited the USA and bought me some Oreo cookies. A while back I wrote a blog post about the US ones being milk free. In the picture I was experimenting adding them to a milk shake along with my Mum's homemade dairy free coconut ice cream. I found McVities Mini Gingerbread Men via a mention on Twitter. These are vegetarian, contain gluten but may contain nuts, milk & soya. Beyond Dark chocolate is dairy free. I have previously tried the plain version but these have a hint of raspberry.

Sugarpuffish Sunday Catch Up - Baked Bean Soup & Chocolate Mousse
It's a cold and snowy Sunday. I'm wrapped up warm but feeling a little bored so put together this quick post.

1. Wash Your Hair Backwards is from the No More Dirty Look book. I've washed my hair three times in this way and it amazes me how soft my hair feels. This method is designed for "clean" haircare not sure how it will work is your conditioner is full of SLS, parabens and silicones.

2. I used the Almond Butter in a Blondie recipe in replacement of Peanut Butter. These tasted good but were a little dry compare to when I use PB.

3. I discovered Smokey Bacon Lentil Tubes in M&S. They are free from milk and suitable for Vegetarians. The allergen advice lists that they contain Barley. These taste nice and I will buy again.

4. Baked Bean Soup was something I wanted to try after seeing on Australian Masterchef. I think it tastes great and I made it dairy free by using Oatly "cream" and soya milk.

5. Orgran Chocolate Mousse was a huge disappointment. Great texture but cheap chocolate taste. Not something I would buy again.
