Crazy Rumors Lip Balm Vegan
Petroleum is one ingredient that I truly hate with a passion. I spent most of my childhood smothered in the stuff so we do not see eye to eye. I have previously written about why I hate it (click here) but let me recap.

1. Petroleum can also be referred to as mineral oil, liquidum paraffinum, paraffin oil, paraffin wax and petrolatum
2. Initially leaves your skin feeling silky smooth but your skin does not absorb petroleum so the results are superficial.
3. Does not heal damaged skin, it creates a barrier
4. It is a cheaper filler ingredient
5. I don’t want to ingest this ingredient in lip balms

I would love to persuade everyone to throw out Vaseline by tempting you with natural balms. It may surprise you that there are natural brands available on the high street, such as Figs & Rouge, Balm Balm and Dr Organic. My list of favourite balms is growing and includes Badger Balm, Sweet Cecily’s, Savonnaire London, Gwdihw and Crazy Rumors. All these lip balms contain similar ingredients so their performance is practically identical it just boils down to what flavour takes your fancy. The one brand that stands out to me has to be Crazy Rumors.

Crazy Rumors is a USA brand (hence the spelling!). Their lip balms are 100% natural, organic, cruelty free and Vegan. These lips balms contain moisturising ingredients like shea butter and jojoba oil. The flavours are naturally derived and taste amazing. I currently own Amaretto and Red Velvet but the flavour choices are endless – Candy Canes, Desserts, Bubble Gums, Sodas, Ice Creams, Tea, Coffee and more. I am not sure how many UK websites sell Crazy Rumors but I have purchased mine from cutecosmetics.co.uk (which is an all round awesome website). On this site these lip balms retail for £3.25.

What do you think Sugarpuffettes, have I tempted you to treat your lips with a natural balm? Do you already have a favourite natural lip balm or use Crazy Rumors?

Tropic Skincare Body Oil
(Gifted PR sample)

UPDATE 2021: 10 years on and Tropic Skincare has gone through several changes and now boasts a vast collection of products. My original review may be outdated due to product changes but it remains on this page for reference. The image has been updated and shows the latest version of the products mentioned in this review.

Tropic Pure Plant Skincare is a natural brand which I have known for a few years, long before I had a blog. It has changed a lot since I first used it but products never fail to impress me. The range continues to grow and recently two Organic Luxury Oils have been added to the collection. I have been sent the White Frangipani & Magnolia to review.

The first thing that catches your attention is the elegant glass bottle. The silver tear drop at the top unscrews to allow you to pour the liquid. The ingredients are some of my favourite oils – coconut, rosehip, jojoba and macadamia. What is great about this product is that it is versatile. Use it as a body moisturiser, massage oil, bath oil, nail & cuticle or hair treatment.

The oil is solid at room temperature you need to warm the bottle in warm water to transform it to liquid. Any Elemis fans reading this will probably be thinking of the similarity with Frangipani Moisture Melt. This is not a quick fix product you need to set aside some time for a pampering session. Have the bottle in the sink whilst taking a shower or float it in the bath so it is ready to use when you have relaxed. It is a beautiful silky oil which sinks into my skin with ease (I am dry like the Sahara). If you are familiar with Frangipani you will know it is a heavy and exotic aroma. However, if you are not a fan of this feminine floral then maybe try the Bergamot, Lime & Neroli. Overall, it’s a beautiful product and perfect for anyone who likes a home spa treatment.
