Review Sukin Paw Paw Ointment
(PR sample, affiliate link marked *, price correct at time of publication)

If you delve into the archives you’ll know that I declared my love for paw paw balm from the start. I wrote about three different brands and during that time my favourite closed their business. I guess over the years other multi-purpose products came my way and I never re-purchased. When Sukin, a brand I already enjoy using, came to me with a press release for their new paw paw ointment it certainly sparked my interest.

Suvana Organic Paw Paw & Honey Balm
(affiliate link marked *)

I've mentioned before my number one hero product is papaya (paw paw) balm. It's a fantastic multi purpose product and one I would not be without. My favourite brand is no longer manufactured so last year I switched to Pure Papaya Ointment. My only complaint with Pure Papaya is the strong fragrance. Not an issue on my body but I began to dislike on my lips. I decided to buy Suvana paw paw and honey balm which is organic, natural and free from mineral oil. It has a very delicate hint of honey which is not intrusive.

I would describe this Suvana balm as having a silky texture and doesn't feel sticky on skin. You can pretty much use this anywhere for a variety of aliments. I often use it to treat any sudden itchy eczema patches. Out of all the multi purpose balms I own, this is the one that stays in my handbag because of the convenient packaging.

I know Lucas Pawpaw Ointment is very popular at the moment but please be aware that it is a petroleum based product and that's not an ingredient that I feel comfortable using. If you'd like to purchase pawpaw (papaya) ointments visit www.pawpawshop.co.uk or *Content Beauty & Wellbeing

PURE Papaya Ointment
I have mentioned this before but my hero ingredient is Papaya (also known as Paw Paw). My previously wrote about my favourite brand Simmons which I had used for a number of years but sadly it is no longer manufactured. About two or three months ago I switched to Pure Papaya Ointment. Coincidentally, my blog post “Why you should not use petroleum jelly” caught the attention of Pure Papaya and they contacted me regarding a review, not realising I was already using their ointment. Recently I've seen a lot of hype for Lucas Papaya balm but I'm not recommending Lucas because it contains petroleum. I've stuck with Simmons and Pure Papaya because they are natural ingredient based and petroleum free.

Aside from Papaya, Pure Papaya Ointment also contains calendula, shea butter, jojoba oil and macadamia oil. These are fantastic healing ingredients ideal for eczema and dry skin. When comparing fragrance Pure Papaya is stronger and sweeter. The only downside to this is you may not like the taste when applied to your lips, I must admit Simmons was better as lip balm due to the delicate fragrance/taste. The consistency and texture of Pure Papaya Ointment is softer and silkier than what I was use to with Simmons.

Despite the variations Pure Papaya Ointment is a multi purpose product and remains a staple in my handbag. The fact that I can use one product for a variety of ailments makes it my desert island beauty product. It is ideal as I can substitute my eczema cream, lip balm and antiseptic ointments for a tube of Pure Papaya Ointment. This product has many uses and can be applied to nappy rash, sore nipples, cold sores, after care of tattoos, hard calloused skin, sunburn, burns & scalds, pressure sores & ulcers, insect bites, rashes, healing scars, taming eyebrows.

Everyone who I have recommended Papaya balms to has been happy with the results and pleased to have found it. It's affordable and effective plus I doubt you will regret purchasing it.

Paw Paw Salve
UPDATE - Simmons & Co Paw Paw Salve is no longer available, alternatives are PURE Papaya Ointment and Suvana Paw Paw and Coconut Balm

This small tube is a staple item in my handbag and my life saver. I discovered it on my travels around Australia and have been using it for a number of years. Little did I know that it was a celebrity must have product.

Pawpaw or Papaya has fantastic health and healing properties. Raw papaya is rich in vitamins and minerals and the active ingredient in salves is the enzyme papain.

My tube of salve is multipurpose it makes a fantastic lip balm, heals cuts, moisturises dry skin and most of all calms my itchy eczema. If anyone has a skin condition that they cannot ‘cure’ I always recommend giving Pawpaw a try as it often does the job. Some suggestions for uses of pawpaw are nappy rash, dry skin, cuts, abrasions, chafing, heat rash, mosquito bites, insect bites, sunburn, eczema, psoriasis & open wounds.

The salve pictured here is made by Simmons & Co. It is a thick consistency and I reckon this 25g tube has lasted me almost a year. Sadly, I recently read that it is no longer being manufactured as Mr Simmons has retired but I must not fear as there are other brands on the market. However it is still a sad loss as I know this one so well. One word of warning is there are some brands of Pawpaw that contain petrochemicals. Lucas Pawpaw Ointment (in a red tube) is often featured in magazines but it is petroleum jelly based whereas Simmons contains natural waxes.

On a funny note I know a Labrador with particular fondness for this product and I found her with my tube of Pawpaw between her teeth. She had got into my handbag and decided that was what she wanted to eat and she ignored the chewy sweets.
