Lamazuna Gentle Cleansing Duo Set and Eco Refillable Toothbrush
(gifted/unpaid)

This month my attention was drawn to Lamazuna, a french cosmetics brand available through Love Lula. Zero waste skincare is currently on trend and everyone is turning their attention to improving their packaging and overall waste materials. There were two items which caught my attention - Lamazuna Gentle Cleansing Duo Set and Lamazuna Eco Refillable Toothbrush

Lamazuna was founded in 2010 by entrepreneur Laetitia Van de Walle. The brand's mission is to make it easier for anyone looking to find a more eco friendly alternative to disposable plastic beauty products. Every product is vegan and cruelty free. They are made from either minerals or plants and all of the packaging is printed with vegetable inks and fully compostable or recyclable. I recommend looking further into this brand because on paper it all sounds very impressive.
I fell under the spell of super cute packaging and this cleansing set would make an excellent Christmas Gift. Lamazuna Gentle Cleansing Duo Set contains a solid facial cleanser and five eco friendly cleansing wipes. The solid cleanser is the adorable yellow cloud shape that you see in my photos. It lathers up in your hands, the creamy suds feel pleasant on skin and easily rinsed away. The set is marketed towards 'normal' skin types and I would agree as it didn't suit my mature dry skin. The formulation contains parfum but does not use essential oils. I would suggest the set would be ideal for teens or minimalist skincare types. The cleansing wipes are soft and gentle. The instructions say that you add water and swipe away makeup. I admit I haven't put this to the test but the pads have a multi-purpose use and replace disposable versions. I am sure they would be very useful.

I haven't found my perfect bamboo toothbrush so this one seemed a good compromise. The handles is 'bioplastic' made from 70% castor derivatives and 30% plastic. The design allows you to replace the head and re-use the handle, you could say it's a concept similar to electric toothbrushes. Lamazuna are part of the Terra Cycle Zero Waste Box programme. Toothbrush heads returned to them will be sent for recycling and same goes for the handle (although they claim the handle will last you a lifetime). My thoughts on this item are the handle is very comfortable to hold and has a good weigh and grip compared to bamboo toothbrushes. I have found the head a little on the large size but that is probably easily resolved by selecting a smaller option next time. I will be interested to see how this holds up on a long term basis. The concept is only future proof if replacement brush heads are readily available to purchase.

Love Lula Natural Skincare Acure Sukin Preserve
Disclaimer –  contains affiliate link. I'm part of the Love Lula Blogger Programme and can select PR samples each month, I am not obligated to review and all opinions are my own. Prices correct at time of publication.

How are you doing? I'm writing this with a stinking cold feeling very sorry for myself. The month started well as I went to Majorca but within 24 hours of being back on home turf I was struck down with germs. So moving on from my endless complaining, once again I find myself writing about products I chose from Love LulaI really hope you are finding these mini reviews of use, if you have any feedback leave me a comment or send an email.

Acure Organics Day Cream
The Acure cleanser I tried last month won me over so I decided to try the day cream. It’s become a firm favourite and I am really enjoying how it feels on my skin. I probably say this quite often when it comes to moisturisers but it gives me that nice balance between hydration without feeling too heavy. The scent is an added bonus, it’s citrus specifically orange and reminds me of chewy candy but without being overbearing or sickly. The only minor criticism I have over Acure is in the USA this brand is known for being affordable. Through Love Lula you will pay £26 which puts it up there with Antipodes and Trilogy but I guess that’s the price of importing goods.

Preserve Recycled Plastic Eco Friendly Toothbrush (Medium)
I wrote about Preserve back in 2012 and I’m slightly embarrassed to say it took me this long to try a toothbrush. The concept is great. Preserve make the handle from recycled yoghurt pots and they have a scheme to take back your old brush for recycling (applicable for both USA & UK more info on their website). I must admit I threw this toothbrush into my basket with no expectations and its ended up being my favourite find. The curve on the brush is fantastic as I’ve always struggled to reach my back teeth and with this it’s so easy. I ended up dragging out all my old brushes (I use them for cleaning around the home) and none of them had the same degree of angle. These are more expensive than my usual toothbrush but I’m sold on the fact that I can comfortably clean my teeth; it really has made a difference. Of course the eco-friendly nature of Preserve products is an added bonus. I’ve been using for a month and the bristles still look in good shape. My one criticism is you can’t pick the colour when you order.........yes I am that person!

Sukin Super Greens Nutrient Rich Facial Moisturiser
I’ve once again encountered an issue with Love Lula not listing ingredients correctly. I’ve ended up passing this moisturiser on to my husband because there are essential oil allergens on the product label which are not listed on Love Lula's site (F.Y.I - I avoid linalool that's why it matters to me). I've used other Sukin products so it is a brand I trust and recommend. My husband is a man of few words but he tells me he likes this moisturiser, he's happy to use it, his skin feels nice after application and he would replace when it runs out. I think it has a unisex fragrance which is not too overpowering and it’s affordable. I’d recommend as a good all rounder for most families.

Have you tried any of the products I've mentioned? What are your thoughts on them? If you missed my July picks then follow this link - Love Lula Reviews for July - Acure Organics, Madara, Trilogy.

natural skincare on Etsy
My previous posts about Natural Skincare on Etsy have been popular so I decided to put together another one. You can read the previous two posts here - Etsy Wish List No 1 and Etsy Wish List No 2

Laila London - my attention was drawn to the beautiful jar and wooden spoon. This is bodycare which looks good enough to eat. A variety of scrubs and butters are available.

Evy Jo & Co - Bath and skincare product that are organic, vegan and handcrafted in Montreal, Canada. I was drawn to the stunning photographs and elegant packaging. Pictured above is the Pink Clay mask and soap set.

French Girl Organics - this brand boast an impressive free from ingredients list "Almost 100% VEGAN, ORGANIC or WILDCRAFTED, with ingredients grown on our Urban Farmstead in Seattle, others from farmer friends in the Pacific Northwest or around the world." As well as skincare French Girl Organics have a line of lip tints and perfumes which caught my attention.

The Holistic Science Co - another US based brand with great kerb appeal when it comes to packaging "our formulas contain no animal byproducts, parabens, petrochemicals, irritants, toxins or artificial colors." A lovely looking range which covers skincare and candles, pictured above is their mineral toothpaste

Batty's Bath - a brand based in Canada with a range of skincare, bodycare and mineral makeup. I pictured above the Green Tea & Pineapple Liquid Facial Cleanser. When I saw this product I instantly thought of several bloggers who would probably like the sound of it
