Winners announced in seventh Free From Skincare Awards

Winners announced in seventh Free From Skincare Awards
Thursday afternoon I was in London for the Free From Skincare Awards Winners Announcement and Networking Event. Long time readers will know this is an award I'm very passionate about and for the past six years I've assisted with judging. I'm not a full time blogger so I book time off work every year to take part, that's how enthusiastic I am about the Awards. Also may I just say I declare any conflict of interest if a brand I have worked/working with ends up on the judging table.

This was the first year that the Free From Skincare Awards had it's own stand alone event to announce the winners. It was a great evening with a panel discussion from industry experts and time to network, the latter is something that past presentations have maybe lacked. Thank you to everyone who came and said hello, networking isn't something I'm well practiced in, majority of what I do as a blogger happens from my living room. It was lovely meet those of you who I have only spoken with on social media, so nice to put faces to brands.

So lets talk about winners. Harborist’s Balm-Gel Cleanser won the Overall Award for Best Free From Skincare Product. Readers will know this is a product I have highly recommended (I've used up two bottles!). Feedback from testers certainly reflected my own opinions.

“My eczema has cleared up completely,” enthused one tester. “It delivers on every level - as well as being effective it is truly kind to sensitive, highly reactive skin. It deeply nourished my skin, dramatically improving its health, feel and appearance.”

“As well as excellent performance, the Cleanser’s free from attributes really shone through,” said Kirsty Mawhinney, Awards’ Administrator. “It contains no beeswax, lanolin, essential oils, typical preservatives, alcohol, or food allergens, making it a great choice for vegans, allergy sufferers and fans of fragrance free.”

Highly regarded and popular perennial entrants Green People took the prestigious Best Free From Brand Award for the first time, while Lyonsleaf’s Zinc and Calendula Balm won the special and all-important Free From Achievement Award.

Among the other 14 category winners were Neal’s Yard Remedies’ Wild Rose Beauty Balm, SenSpa’s Talc Free Natural Body Powder, Urban Veda’s Purifying Facial Oil and Bloomtown’s Avo Mint Organic Avocado & Peppermint Vegan Lip Balm.

“We had a wide selection of innovative entries this year,” said Awards Co-ordinator, Alex Gazzola. “Other winners and medallists included Bowe Organic’s Eyelash Oil, Aurelia’s Botanical Cream Deodorant – with probiotics, ON! Juniper’s Super Colour Bath Bombs, and Beauty Kubes’ Organic Shampoo cubes.”

The 2018 Awards were generously sponsored by NATorigin, Bare & Beyond, Organyc, ORGANii, and Lavera, and were run in association with partners The Ultimate Natural Beauty Bible and Formula Botanica.
